The Beef Checkoff is now seeking entries for the 2009 Beef Backer Awards for foodservice. The awards recognize foodservice operations that show leadership and innovation in menuing and promoting beef. It is open to both commercial and noncommercial independents and chains.

Selection criteria include using beef in ways that showcase its menu versatility, ensuring excellence of beef menu items and developing original advertising and promotions featuring beef. State Beef Backer winners advance to the national contest. National winners will be guests of honor at the 2010 Cattle Industry Annual Convention and National Cattlemen's Beef Association Trade Show, to be held Jan. 27 to 30 in San Antonio, Texas.
